New photo offers glimpse of star Henry Cavill in what seems to be a very different costume. By Terri Schwartz, with additional reporting by Josh Horowitz Henry Cavill in "Man Of Steel" Photo: Warner Bros It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... your first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel." Warner Bros. released the first still of the "Immortals" star in action on Thursday (August 4), and he certainly looks different than Supermen past. In fact, the texture and coloring of his suit actually looks more like what we've seen so far of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man getup in "The Amazing Spider-Man," than the costumes Christopher Reeves or even Brandon Routh popularized in their respective "Superman" movies. Also notably lacking in the image of Cavill is the Superman curl, which recently got a lot of press attention after the actor was spotted rocking it at San Diego Comic-Con. The Man of Steel also looks distracted, judging by his facial expression, by whatever has led him to the bank vault (or aircraft interior?) he appears to be standing in. Just above him, sparks are flying. Check out our photographic analysis of the Man of Steel. When MTV News caught up with Cavill at WonderCon in April, he warned that this re-imagining of the popular superhero would differ from fans' popular perception of Superman. "It's going to be different, but not so different that it's unrecognizable," he said. "Man of Steel" recently saw a production delay that pushed its release date to June 14, 2013. As Comic-Con last month, Cavill told us the delay caught him by surprise but he would not let it affect his enthusiasm for the project. "They broke it to me gently," he said. "I was just told the other day. It's OK; it's nothing to do with me. That's stuff which I have no control over. I just focus on the character and do my job." In the latest in a long line of projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Yosemite National Park has installed over 2,800 solar panels in the El Portal maintenance complex, neatly hidden from the all seeing eyes of the public. The plenitude of photovoltaic plates will produce about 800,000 kWh per year, saving the park $50,000 annually on its power bill and scoring it $700,000 in rebates from PG&E over the next 5 years. The 5.8 million dollar system cuts the park's reliance on carbon fuels by 12 percent, and is now the largest grid-connected solar energy system in the National Park Service. Press release junkies can hit the break for the official announcement; solar fanatics looking for a better view should check out KCRA's coverage in the links below. So who, exactly, will the 33-year-old actor be portraying come Sept. 19? According to CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler: "an Internet billionaire with a broken heart," a scruffy beard, long hair and the distinguished name of Walden Schmidt, of course! OK, so that wasn't exactly a no-brainer, but it is official. Tassler made the announcement Tuesday at the Television Critics' Association summer press tour, adding that the Men premiere will be a "big event" -- so big, in fact, that is will be "a two-parter (airing) over two weeks." As for what viewers can expect to happen in that epic two-parter, Tassler is keeping mum: She would not confirm or deny reports that Sheen's alter ego Charlie Harper would be killed off to explain the embattled actor's departure, nor would she address rumors Uncle Chaz's his funeral, attended by a gaggle of his ex-lovers, would kick off the episode. Perhaps tellingly, Tassler also declined to address murmurings that Kutcher's Walden Schmidt is related to Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T. Jones). (Could he be a cousin, mayhaps?) Whatever the case, Tassler promises a "new" interation of Men that is "smart, funny, irreverent, and as risqué as the show has always been. People who are fans of the show will be really happy, and we feel that show has an opportunity now to recruit a new audience." Just don't expect Sheen to guest star... ever. "He's moved," Tassler says, revealing that she hasn't been pitched Sheen's new in-development show, Anger Management. "He has a lot of choices." By Gil Kaufman Beyoncé Photo: Frank Micelotta/Getty Images Make it a double for Beyoncé. After debuting with the lowest first-week totals of her solo career last week with 4, the "Best Thing I Never Had" singer will make it two in a row at the top next week when her latest holds on to the #1 slot thanks to sales of 115,000. Though Bey's sales were down a bracing 63 percent (with a two-week total just shy of 426,000), that is more than enough to hold off this year's chart queen, Adele, whose five-month-old smash, 21, holds steady at #2 thanks to another 79,000 units moved. That pushes her total to date to nearly 2.6 million, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. The ladies rule a female-heavy top 10 that features just one new entry, R&B singer Lloyd's King of Hearts, which sneaks in at #10 on sales of 26,000. The rest of the top 10: Selena Gomez & the Scene, When the Sun Goes Down (#3, 44,000), Jason Aldean, My Kinda Party (#4, 42,000), Bad Meets Evil, Hell: The Sequel (#5, 35,000), Jackie Evancho, Dream With Me (#6, 34,000), Jill Scott, Light of the Sun (#7, 32,000), Lady Gaga, Born This Way (#8, 30,000) and Big Sean, Finally Famous (#9, 27,000). It was an otherwise quiet week for new releases, with most of the top 40 suffering double-digit drops in sales. Among those losing some significant business: Bon Iver, whose Bon Iver is down 39 percent to 24,000, "American Idol" winner Scott McCreery, whose digital EP slips nine spots in its second week as sales tanked by 65 percent, fellow "Idol" champ David Cook, whose second album, This Loud Morning, drops 19 slots to #26 in its second go-round as business fell by 74 percent, and this year's "Idol" runner-up, Lauren Alaina, whose EP shed 47 percent of last week's figures to land at #35. It seems that few of Limp Bizkit's fans have hung around for their long-promised comeback album, Gold Cobra, as sales took a nosedive in week two. The LP falls 40 slots to #56 as sales tailed off by 72 percent (8,000). Beyoncé has to settle for second-best on the iTunes albums chart, as Adele triumphs, pushing Bey to #2, followed by Bad Meets Evil, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, Bon Iver, Big Sean, We the Kings' Sunshine State of Mind, Gomez, Aldean and Gaga. You can tell it's summer on the iTunes singles chart, as party starters LMFAO take the pole position with "Party Rock Anthem," which pushes Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" to #2, followed by Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," OneRepublic's "Good Life" and Adele's monster single, "Rolling in the Deep." At #7 is Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight," and then Lil Wayne's "How to Love," Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" and Gaga's "The Edge of Glory." Beyoncé's chart reign is likely to end next week as a raft of new titles hits shelves. They include the hyped latest from "The Voice" breakout hosting star Blake Shelton, as well as new albums from Incubus, Colbie Caillat, Chris Young and Ashton Shepherd. According to the report, the carrier lost a total of 50,000 customers last quarter, which is actually an encouraging sign, considering it dropped a whopping 99,000 during Q1, and 93,000 during the second quarter of 2010. Total revenues, however, dipped slightly to $5.1 billion from the $5.2 billion reported for the previous quarter, with service revenues holding firm at $4.6 billion -- a 1.7 percent decrease from Q2 2010. President and CEO Philipp Humm blamed the numbers on a "challenging market," but was quick to point out the brighter aspects of T-Mobile's statement, including the carrier's expanded 4G coverage, and the fact that a full 29 percent of its customers are using 3G or 4G smartphones -- an "all-time high." However, recent trends indicate that tweeting a photo of your breakfast is perfectly acceptable, and in some cases, even encouraged. Your friends don't want to read about your oatmeal ? but they'd love to see it with their own eyes, preferably after it's been passed through a 'Sutro' filter. Behold, the power of the photograph. These days you can't navigate a popular app without bumping into a feature that lets you swap or edit photos, and it seems a new photo service is cropping up every week. Which is why Aviary, the company that produces a suite of powerful web-based image editors, has decided to help coordinate a Photo Hack Day that's dedicated to building photo apps. Source: http://feeds.engadget.com/~r/weblogsinc/engadget/~3/WtLdUybeGls/ Alexis Bledel Laetitia Casta Cheryl Burke Whitney Able Kelly Hu Queen Latifah did an in-depth interview with Sister 2 Sister's Jamie Foster Brown recently. And Ms. Dana gave some insight into what makes a sexy woman. And no, it's not the perfect T&A and skin baring bods. Check out her interesting comments inside.... Sister 2 Sister posted this excerpt from their recent interview with Queen Latifah in their September 2011 issue. If you ever wanted to know what the creator of "Single Ladies" thinks makes a woman hot sh*t, check it: Queen Latifah: …I just like ladies who have class. Period. And if it’s “T and A” you’re sellin’, that’s fine, as long as that’s what you’re selling. But you don’t have to show everything, you know? You can hold some back and just be yourself and let your personality shine and let your individuality show. To me, that’s sexier. A confident woman is a sexy woman, in my opinion. And I think guys find that to be the same way. Jamie: Right. Queen Latifah: You don’t have to show everything; you don’t have to put it all out there to attract a guy. Because what kind of guy are you gonna attract? What is he really looking for? If you wanna be a booty call, I guess you can throw it all out there. (laughs) But if you’re looking for a relationship with someone who respects you and respects things other than your body—your mind, your spirit, your personality, your smile—then you have to kind of exude that more so than just yo’ booty and yo’ titties. Alrighty. Now--S2S didn't post what their exact question to that first answer was or the context in which these comments were made. So even though it may sound like Queen is talking about what type of women she finds sexy for her taste (and y'all know exactly what I'm talking about), it could have just been an innocent question as to generally what makes women sexy. The full interview is in the new issue hitting stands soon.
